Online client
This can be used in case of a comprehensive wireless connection without local data memory on the device.

Offline client
This can be used in cases with a local data memory and regular data synchronizing with the server.

Semi-online client
This is a synthesis of online and offline, in cases where the data can be held locally on the device but also can be transmitted via an online connection (UMTS, Bluetooth, WLAN) if needed.
