Initial situation & challenge

SSP operates numerous catering concepts in the DACH region at highly frequented locations such as train stations and airports. The aim of the project was to create a future-proof solution that meets the requirements of different brands, but at the same time is centrally controllable, robust in operation, and flexibly expandable. In addition to technical reliability, a strong visual brand presence also played a central role.

Digital signage at Frittenwerk

Wedeko's solution approach

Wedeko developed a comprehensive digital signage solution for SSP that closely integrates hardware, software, and content. The concept was consistently designed for use in high-traffic environments and enabled cross-brand and cross-location control from the outset, while also taking local characteristics into account.

Robust, reduced-frame displays, flexible multi-display setups such as menu boards or stretch displays, and a central content management system were used. The system was supplemented by high-quality animated content from Bütema AG's in-house agency team.

implementation

Within the DACH region, Wedeko supported a wide range of different catering concepts for SSP. These ranged from chain restaurant brands to individually designed store formats. They included trend-based concepts such as Frittenwerk, newly conceived bakery formats such as Ida & Frida in Cologne Central Station, Italian fast food outlets such as L’Osteria Piccola, and international brands such as Pret A Manger.

Each of these concepts had its own requirements in terms of design, content strategy, and technical setup. Wedeko developed tailor-made display solutions for each of them while ensuring a consistent technical platform across all locations and countries.

Rolling expansion in the DACH region

From the outset, the digital signage network was designed as a continuous rollout. Instead of a completed project, the infrastructure continues to grow step by step, with new stores and new brands being added all the time.

To this day, Wedeko's scalable architecture enables new locations to be integrated quickly, efficiently, and without interrupting ongoing operations.

classification

The project shows how Wedeko, a brand of Bütema AG, strategically implements digital signage in the travel catering sector on a long-term basis. The combination of robust hardware, high-performance software, and professional content production forms the basis for a scalable network that works across brands and continues to grow.

Results & Added Value

The central digital signage platform enabled SSP to strengthen its brand presence in high-traffic environments in the long term. Visually striking menu boards, strategically placed stretch displays, and harmonious integration into modern store design concepts ensure clear orientation and high visibility.
Today, centralized content management enables efficient processes while allowing flexibility for local adaptations.
