Initial situation & challenge

Hockenheim was looking for a solution to efficiently provide up-to-date information, events, and dates in public spaces. The systems had to be suitable for both indoor and outdoor use and meet high standards of weather resistance, security, and continuous operation. In addition, an automated display of meeting and room occupancy in municipal buildings was required.

Wedeko's solution approach

In close cooperation with the city, Wedeko developed a comprehensive concept for a digital city information system. The aim was to cover different information needs with a uniform, intuitive solution. A combination of robust outdoor systems and indoor displays was used, supplemented by a central content and data connection.

implementation

Several digital information points were implemented as part of the project:

• Two 55" outdoor touchscreen kiosks in central locations with city maps, event information, and tourist content

• A 75-inch touchscreen system in front of City Hall as a central information point for citizen information and municipal services

• A special shop window display with fire protection enclosure for optimal visibility in daylight

• Two 32" displays in front of meeting rooms with metal housing and automated database interface for displaying appointments and room occupancy

All systems are designed for permanent use in public spaces and blend in with the cityscape in terms of design.

classification

The project demonstrates how digital information solutions can be implemented in a practical manner in a municipal environment. The combination of robust technology, clear information architecture, and centralized control exemplifies Wedeko's approach to solutions.

Results & Added Value

The new city information system enables consistent, up-to-date, and accessible information transfer. Citizens and visitors benefit from simple operation and clearly structured content, while the city makes internal processes more efficient through automated displays.
