MicroApps: Interactive digital signage solutions for the retail sector

Bütema AG is presenting an exciting extension to its digital signage software at EuroCIS 2025: MicroApps, which can now be used not only on stationary touchscreen displays, but also on customers' smartphones. This innovative extension enables retailers to create interactive and personalized customer experiences - without any complex programming.

Interactive digital signage - a new dimension

Interactive digital signage adds interactive elements to the classic concept of digital display boards. Instead of just passively consuming information, users can interact directly with the content on a display or via their smartphone. This ensures a dynamic, customer-centric experience.

The technology is based on two central components:

  • Hardware: Touchscreen displays that ensure interaction thanks to their intuitive operation. They are robust and designed for continuous operation in public spaces.
  • Software: A flexible digital signage platform that can dynamically adapt content and respond to interactions in real time.

What are MicroApps?

MicroApps are low-code applications that are included in Bütema AG's digital signage software. With their help, retailers can create touch-enabled applications independently. For end customers, this means more interaction, more information and more service. With the help of MicroApps, for example, customer card applications and product comparisons can be easily created.

New functionalities for EuroCIS 2025

Thanks to the new MicroApp extension, customers can access information via a QR code on their smartphone without having to install additional hardware or an app. This not only enables quick access to additional information, but also the option of taking content such as signposts or coupons directly with them. Retailers benefit from low-cost installation without additional hardware and a quick market launch thanks to simple implementation.

Wide range of applications

The MicroApps offer solutions for numerous scenarios, such as signposts in shopping centers or department stores, interactive shop windows that work without touchscreen elements, or digital offer flyers that can be used as PDFs directly on the smartphone.

MicroApps are particularly interesting for retailers who do not have their own website or app but still want to offer their customers a modern and interactive service. They combine high functionality with ease of use and offer both retailers and customers real added value.
