360 DEGREES COMMUNICATION

Many of you may (already) work with Microsoft Teams. Especially during the pandemic and the associated relocation of the workplace to the home office, Teams plays a central role in internal corporate communication in many companies. The subdivision into different channels is essential; each channel also has its own chat where all team members can post and comment. This structure has inspired our product development team to create a similar feature for the Bütema InStore Assistant app and the sovia backstore. The desire for a "top-down" communication channel, which our chat tool couldn't depict in this fashion, was the father of the thought. This tool is intended, for example, for information from a regional manager or general management that's intended to reach a large number of employees.

The 'announcements' feature behaves as intuitively as teams: channels can be created, to which any messages can then be subordinated. The messages in turn consist of a text message and can also contain attachments, e.g. images, PDFs or videos and other files. Messages can then also be commented on.

RIGHTS AND NOTIFICATIONS CAN BE INDIVIDUALLY ADJUSTED

Rechte-Hierarchien spielen eine wichtige Rolle: der Ersteller eines Kanals fügt Mitglieder (also jene Kolleginnen und Kollegen, die dieses Team einsehen dürfen) via OrgUnits, Rolle (initial festgelegt im Backstore) oder einzeln hinzu. Berechtigungen können wiederum granular angepasst werden: von reiner Lese-Berechtigung über Schreibzugriff bis hin zu Admin-Rechten.

On the other hand, each individual user can decide for herself or himself which information they want to receive about the channel contributions as a push message on the smartphone - adjustable and visible via the bell symbol. Here, too, a distinction can be made between: new channels, edited channels, new messages and edited messages. The right to edit a message depends on the respective user right; messages and comments created by the user can, however, be changed at any time. It also shows which user last edited a message.

AS EASY AS FACEBOOK

"Pinning" is known from common social media channels: a particularly important post can be marked accordingly with a click and thus "sticks" permanently in the first position of the channel. The author of a post can also decide whether he or she wants to allow replies to it at all.

The announcements together with the communication center round off the topic of internal communication within the Bütema applications. Important messages can be sent directly and easily to all employees and are guaranteed not to get lost - whether on the warehouse clerk's smartphone or in the marketing team's browser.
