
Bütema AG and GALERIA launch digital retail AI assistant
Together with GALERIA, we are introducing an innovative AI-supported assistant that takes the shopping experience to a new level. The test phase is running in the lingerie department of the GALERIA shop in Bonn - with exciting functions for customers and sales teams.
How does the AI assistant "Verena" work?

Customers can interact directly with "Verena" via QR codes in the changing rooms. A simple scan with a smartphone is all it takes to access various services:
- Employee support: Customers can call a sales assistant via chat. The enquiry is received by the "KARL" sales app, which is already in use at GALERIA. This allows the team to respond efficiently and avoid duplicate processing.
- Product information at a glance: By scanning the QR code, customers immediately receive all relevant information about the item - including available sizes, alternative colours and suitable recommendations.
Innovative technology at the point of sale
An LED poster was also installed to advertise the digital assistant directly in the department. The technology behind "Verena" is based on the integration of ChatGPT and enables smooth interaction in any language.
Our aim is to take the pressure off sales teams and improve service for customers at the same time. With this pioneering solution, we are continuing to drive the digitalisation of bricks-and-mortar retail - and creating an even more convenient shopping experience.
