Bietigheim-Bissingen, January 21, 2026 – Bütema AG, a leading provider of digital signage and retail solutions for the German market, has implemented a customized digital signage project at the Josephinum Clinic in Munich in collaboration with its Wedeko brand. Three weatherproof 55-inch outdoor steles were installed in a custom RAL color, perfectly matched to the architectural environment of the clinic.
The previous static information boards were replaced by a dynamic, digital guidance system. The aim was to significantly improve visitor guidance, make information flexible and easy to update, and enhance the clinic's external appearance with digital elements.
The project covered all phases—from technical consulting and visualization of the locations to final installation and content design. Content is controlled centrally via Bütema's digital signage system, which also allows for last-minute changes in real time.
"A functioning guidance system is essential in medical facilities. It reduces stressful situations and provides clear orientation. This makes it all the more important to have a solution that is reliable, visually appealing, and intuitive to use," explains Lutz Hollmann-Raabe, CEO of Bütema AG. "We are delighted to have been able to support the Josephinum Clinic with a tailor-made solution."

The digital steles offer high luminosity and can withstand even harsh weather conditions. Thanks to their high-quality workmanship and coordinated color scheme, they blend harmoniously into the clinic's appearance and offer maximum visibility day and night.
The project exemplifies how digital signage is now being used beyond retail in a wide variety of applications. For example, in hospitals, restaurants, educational institutions, and public spaces.
What are the benefits of digital signage in hospitals?
Digital signage improves wayfinding in hospitals through digital guidance systems and easily updatable information. Patients and visitors are provided with clear directions, which helps reduce stress. At the same time, the modern display creates a professional and contemporary look.
Why are outdoor steles suitable for medical facilities?
Outdoor steles are specifically designed for outdoor use and offer high visibility and reliable performance even in challenging weather conditions. Thanks to their high luminosity, the content remains clearly legible both day and night. In addition, the systems can be visually adapted to the architecture and corporate design of a hospital.
How does a digital wayfinding system with digital signage work?
A digital wayfinding system uses centrally controlled displays or pillars to show information in real time. Content such as directional signs, notices, or up-to-date information can be quickly updated without having to replace physical signage. This ensures that communication remains flexible and efficient.
In what sectors is digital signage used outside of retail?
Digital signage is used in many industries today—including hospitals, educational institutions, restaurants, and public spaces. These systems are used for visitor information, wayfinding, internal communication, and digital advertising, and can be customized to meet a variety of needs.
