The municipality of Keltern has implemented a digital information system that provides residents in all neighborhoods with reliable and up-to-date information. The combination of outdoor displays and indoor digital wayfinding systems creates a seamless information network.
Keltern consists of five districts, each with its own information needs. The goal was to make relevant content—such as events, announcements, and local notices—available promptly and accessible to all residents.
At the same time, the solution should also reach people who do not use digital devices or who have difficulty using mobile apps. In addition to external communication, there was also a need for clear wayfinding within the town halls.

Wedeko, a brand of Bütema AG, developed a comprehensive concept for digital public information in public spaces. The focus was on a combination of rugged outdoor systems for all neighborhoods and digital wayfinding systems for indoor use.
All content is managed centrally via a cloud-based platform and can be maintained and updated quickly across all locations.

As part of the project, digital display cases were installed in all five districts. The project utilized 49-inch high-brightness displays with a brightness of 2,500 cd/m², which are specifically designed for outdoor use.
The systems are housed in rugged outdoor enclosures that feature ventilation, heating, and safety glass. As a result, the displays are not only protected from the elements but are also specifically designed to withstand vandalism and are built for long-term use in public spaces.
In addition, digital wayfinding systems have been installed in the town halls of the Dietlingen and Ellmendingen districts. These clearly display departmental responsibilities and room assignments and help visitors find their way around the building.
The content for all systems is entered and updated centrally via the content management system.
Today, the municipality can provide information quickly, flexibly, and consistently across all districts. Content is always up to date and directly accessible to residents in public spaces.
The digital wayfinding systems in town halls also improve on-site navigation and reduce the administrative burden associated with changes.
The project demonstrates how local governments can implement practical digital information solutions to optimize both external communications and internal visitor guidance. The combination of outdoor and indoor systems creates a consistent and future-proof infrastructure.
