The Klinik im Hofgarten in Bad Waldsee modernized its internal information and wayfinding systems with a site-wide digital signage solution from Bütema. The goal was to replace analog information displays with centrally controlled, flexibly updatable systems and to provide information exactly where it is needed in the day-to-day operations of the clinic.
In hospitals and rehabilitation facilities, information often changes on short notice: room assignments, therapy schedules, weekly programs, and organizational notices must be updated quickly and communicated clearly to patients, visitors, and staff.
At the Hofgarten Clinic, information has traditionally been communicated primarily through physical notices and display cases. Content had to be updated manually and was often difficult to navigate in day-to-day operations or went largely unnoticed. At the same time, there was a need to provide specific departments within the clinic with relevant information without having to update the content multiple times.

Bütema AG developed a location-based digital signage concept for the clinic that centrally connects various information points throughout the facility.
The focus was on a clear information architecture: Each screen displays only the content relevant to that specific location. This creates targeted information areas rather than a uniform, overwhelming stream of information.
The content is managed centrally through Bütema AG's content management system and can be updated quickly.

As part of the project, a total of nine 55-inch displays with sturdy metal enclosures and two indoor display stands were installed.
The systems are strategically distributed across various areas of the hospital:
• Reception areas for initial orientation
• Lounges and waiting areas
• Dining room
• Therapy areas
• Elevator zones
• Columned hall with an interactive information kiosk
The displays show, among other things, weekly schedules, meal plans, room and therapy assignments, current occupancy, and organizational notices. Last-minute changes can be made centrally and published immediately.
The solution was also designed to allow for flexible network expansion and adaptation to future requirements.
Thanks to the new digital signage network, information is now communicated in a much more structured, faster, and location-specific manner.
Patients and visitors can find their way around the building more easily and receive relevant information directly where they are. At the same time, centralized control significantly reduces the amount of manual maintenance required, as content no longer needs to be exchanged multiple times in analog form.
The digital information structure thus not only aids navigation within the hospital but also simplifies internal communication processes during daily operations.
The project demonstrates how digital signage solutions can be applied in a practical way within the healthcare sector. Rather than focusing solely on digital modernization, the project centered on improving specific workflows: better wayfinding, more up-to-date information, and more efficient communication processes.
Following the successful installation at the Wangen Specialized Clinics, the Klinik im Hofgarten—another facility within the Waldburg-Zeil hospital network—underwent further digital development. The project highlights how centralized content management and strategically placed displays can be effectively integrated into everyday hospital operations.
