

A digital signage solution has been implemented at the Allgäu Airport charging station area that specifically uses the time spent at EV charging stations for location-based advertising. The displays provide an additional communication space in the immediate vicinity of the charging infrastructure.
As e-mobility expands, new usage scenarios are emerging: During the charging process, users spend significantly more time at the charging station than they do during traditional refueling.
This presents an opportunity for operators and advertisers to make good use of this waiting time. At the same time, the challenge was to create a solution that works reliably outdoors, is clearly visible, and integrates seamlessly into the existing charging infrastructure.

Wedeko, a brand of Bütema AG, has developed a digital signage solution specifically designed for use at electric vehicle charging stations. The focus was on rugged outdoor systems with high brightness and a centralized, flexible content management system.
Advertising content can be delivered based on location and customized at any time. This creates a dynamic advertising space that is suitable for both in-house content and third-party advertising.

Two 49-inch displays were installed in an outdoor enclosure at the Allgäu Airport parking lot. The systems are configured as a back-to-back solution and are therefore visible from both sides.
The displays used feature high brightness, ensuring that content remains clearly legible even in direct sunlight. The housing reliably protects the technology from the elements, enabling long-term outdoor use.
Content is uploaded centrally via the cloud-based content management system. This allows campaigns to be planned, customized, and managed across multiple locations with flexibility.
These advertising displays create an additional, eye-catching communication space right at the point of purchase. Businesses can strategically leverage the extended time customers spend there to effectively showcase their content.
At the same time, centralized control enables efficient management and quick updates of content—regardless of location.
The project demonstrates how new infrastructure, such as electric vehicle charging stations, can be effectively integrated into digital communication strategies. Digital signage serves as the link between mobility, location marketing, and modern outdoor advertising.
