

At the Hotel Hanauerhof in Appenweier, guest communications were specifically modernized through the use of digital information systems. In collaboration with Wedeko, a brand of Bütema AG, a solution was developed that enables the flexible and contemporary display of offerings and information both in outdoor areas and within the restaurant environment.
The hotel strives to offer its guests a modern yet personalized experience. Information such as breakfast options and dinner menus should be visible before guests even enter the building and should be presented in an up-to-date and appealing manner inside.
Traditional, static solutions quickly reach their limits in this context: updating content is time-consuming, and they offer little design flexibility. Therefore, a solution was needed that would function reliably outdoors while also blending harmoniously into the existing interior environment.


Wedeko developed a comprehensive digital signage concept for both indoor and outdoor use. The goal was to provide relevant guest information in a way that could be centrally controlled, was visually appealing, and was always up to date.
The focus was on robust outdoor technology for the entrance area, as well as elegantly integrated displays in the restaurant that blend seamlessly into the interior. Content is managed via a central, easy-to-use software solution.

A 49-inch display column in a custom color scheme was installed outdoors. The system is specifically designed for long-term outdoor use and features built-in cooling and heating elements, safety glass, a light sensor, and a high-brightness display for optimal readability in various lighting conditions.
Two additional displays were installed in the “Klara” restaurant, which had previously undergone a comprehensive redesign. They were positioned and designed to blend seamlessly into the bar counter while remaining clearly visible.
The content is centrally managed via the digital signage software. Hotel operators maintain menus and information on their own and can update them as needed.
This digital solution enables consistently up-to-date and cohesive communication with guests—from the first point of contact outside the building all the way to the dining area.
Information can be quickly updated at any time, and seasonal or daily content can be integrated without additional effort. At the same time, it creates a modern look that underscores the hotel’s positioning as a contemporary host.
For day-to-day operations, this means significantly less administrative burden and greater flexibility, while guests benefit from clearly structured and easily visible information.
The project demonstrates how digital signage can be effectively implemented in a hotel setting: not as an isolated, standalone measure, but as a seamless information system that spans the entire customer journey.
The combination of rugged outdoor technology, an integrated indoor solution, and simple content management exemplifies Wedeko’s approach.
